Relevant Coursework

This page is dedicated entirely to my educational background. As a Penn State student in the Class of 2025, my goal is to graduate with a B.S. in Geography with minors in Climatology and Sociology.

Geography and Climatology

METEO 201

(Fall 2021) From this class, I gained a good foundation in weather analysis by getting an in-depth view of the forces behind weather, the different tools used for data collection, and the scientific theories and formulas behind how those tools and forces work.

EMSC 100S

(Fall 2021) This class gave me a great introduction to the history behind Climate Change while introducing me to current and future problems caused by climate change. This class also allowed me to focus on how Climate Change affects different parts of the world- including my backyard.

GEOG 210

(Spring 2022) In this class, I learned all about physical geography and the processes that shape Earth's physical landscape. It focused on things like changes in climate over time, soil, vegetation, geology, hydrology, the atmosphere, and more. Additionally, I spent time learning a lot more about mapping and identifying things such as biomes and rock types by analyzing their properties.

GEOG 220

(Fall 2022) This class taught me how to think critically about questions we overlook regarding Geography. This class taught me the importance of geography and how it influences anything and everything a society does. I also explored geography from political, social, and economic lenses and studied how geography establishes and enforces our beliefs, attitudes, and practices.

GEOG 230

(Fall 2022) In this class, I learned how human practices and the environment affect each other. This course taught me how to think deeply and critically about the connections between our actions and the environment from political, cultural, and economic standpoints by using examples and case studies from around the world. Topics from this course ranged from deforestation, food waste and sustainability, political ecology, and more.

EARTH 103N

(Fall 2022) This class allowed me to learn about the different realms of the environment that Climate Change touches and how those processes will change in the future while encouraging hands-on exploration through independent research and usage of Google Earth Pro. Topics covered in this class ranged from temperature trends, extreme weather events, climate records, the carbon and water cycles, and more. This class also utilized current and historic events to show trends, future predictions, and past problems and mistakes regarding the environment and climate.

GEOG 260

(Spring 2023) In this class, I learned about Geographic information systems (GIS) and the technology, terms, and ways of thinking that helped further my knowledge about GIS as a whole. Topics covered in this class included cartography, spatial analysis, remote sensing, and more. I was also taught how to use various ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc.) products including ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online to create detailed maps showing various information forms.

GEOG 301

(Spring 2023) This class focused heavily on helping me develop my future as a Geographer through lessons about how to be an effective researcher, dealing with moral and ethical dilemmas at work, and more. We had practice writing different forms of literature and text we would deal with in our professional careers such as editorials, briefing papers for government officials, and research papers.

GEOSC 320

(Spring 2023) This class was all about climate change throughout the entirety of Earth's history and the geological evidence that proved and showed the differences between periods of major changes in Earth's (and its surroundings) changing features and climate.

EARTH 104

(Fall 2023) This class focused on different sources of energy and the role they play in our lives, economy, and our climate. This class taught me how energy sources like hydro, wind, and nuclear work while detailing their pros and cons. We also focused on our current energy system and how the economy changes as we start to adapt and move away from certain sources. The final aspect of this class was designing an energy budget for the world that allowed people to move away from fossil fuels, limit global warming to below a certain temperature, and save as much money as possible in the process.

GEOG 310

(Fall 2023) This class gave a detailed introduction to the forces behind the climate. Some of the topics covered in this class are how land, ice, and the ocean have varying effects on the climate, how air circulation patterns and various meteorological patterns drive the climate as we see it today (and how things have and will continue to change in the future).

GEOG 361

(Fall 2023) This class taught me various cartographic design techniques and rules and how to implement them when creating maps for this class' homework. The main focus of this class was teaching us how to properly show different types of information in ways that are easily understood at all education levels.

GEOG 364

(Fall 2023) This class covered various spatial analysis and spatial statistics topics for geographers and geography-related majors. On top of learning about spatial statistics and how the world organizes itself spatialyl, I also learned extensively about the coding language R and how to perform different types of analysis tests using this language.

Sociology

SOC 369

(Spring 2022) In this class, I learned how to properly facilitate conversations hosted by the program I am a part of called World in Conversations. World in Conversation's purpose is to invite strangers into conversations about social issues with the hopes of helping them explore their perspectives while listening to new ones. Throughout this class, I became a stronger speaker and a better listener toward new ideas and thoughts. Additionally, I was taught to question everything I hear and to work well with a diverse group of people.

SOC 469

(Fall 2022) This class acted as a continuation of my SOC 369 as I advanced in the World in Conversations program. This class allowed me to continue practicing all the skills that I had learned through SOC 369.

SOC 119

(Fall 2023) This lecture-conversation based class focused on having students listen to and share their experience regarding various social topics related to culture, race, ethnicity, religion and society to show just how complicated humans are and importance of exploring different view points.
